From Homelessness to a Home

Support to find long-term accommodation & address employment, financial and health needs 

The From Homelessness to a Home program provides support packages to individuals and families who experienced homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic and who were provided with emergency accommodation.

Individuals and families living within the Central Highlands, Wimmera, and South West regions of Victoria are eligible to receive a package.

Building capacity and stability for families and individuals

Homelessness often goes hand in hand with issues including mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, and family violence.

A safe and secure home is the first step in addressing these issues, and is a way forward for people experiencing homelessness.

The From Homelessness to a Home packages offer two years of ongoing support, which include:

• long-term accommodation (either via head leasing, public housing or social housing)
• wholistic case management to identify and address issues or barriers (including employment help)
• financial assistance and brokerage to purchase home goods
• referrals to counselling, general practitioners and other essential supports.

How do I access this service?

People who were provided with emergency hotel/motel accommodation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and who were linked with a homelessness provider, are eligible to receive a package through our From Homelessness to a Home program.

There are limited packages available, and so CatholicCare Victoria consults with homelessness providers in the Central Highlands, Wimmera and South West regions of Victoria to identify the most vulnerable people in need of support to access this program.

Fees

There is no charge to access this service.

The From Homelessness to a Home program is a Victorian State Government funded initiative, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program is also subsidised by Uniting Housing.
