Refugee Dads and Kids camps give newly settled refugee dads the opportunity to reconnect with children and improve the father/child relationship.
Children have the best outcomes when they have positive relationships with their dads, but past trauma and prolonged separation can diminish the confidence of many refugee fathers. Parenting for refugee fathers can also be challenging when their children’s new Australian way of life leaves less time for traditional culture and identity.
The camp was beautiful, and it helped me to strengthen my relationship with my children. Camps helped us to feel stronger in ourselves.
