Support couples to prepare for a healthy marriage
CatholicCare offers training for people who are enthusiastic about helping couples to prepare for marriage and who want to become certified FOCCUS facilitators.
What is FOCCUS?
FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding and Study) is a pre-marriage education program for individual couples to reflect on their relationship in a private, confidential setting. Couples complete an online inventory then work through their responses with a qualified Facilitator over three 50 minute sessions.
The setting allows couples to talk about their strengths and discuss the challenges they may face as their relationship evolves.

What will I learn in FOCCUS Facilitator training?
FOCCUS Facilitator training will provide you with the skills and knowledge to successfully deliver the FOCCUS program. In this one-day program, you will learn:
- How does FOCCUS work?
- How to understand and use the FOCCUS tools
- How to guide couples - in a sensitive, caring and non-judgemental manner - to explore their relationship
