Cultural diversity at CatholicCare Victoria

Cultural diversity is a big part of our work and culture at CatholicCare Victoria.

We have a culturally diverse team of over 500 staff, and a welcoming workplace where differences are not only respected, but celebrated.

The cultural diversity of our team also holds significance for the families and individuals we support - it enables us to provide culturally safe and relevant assistance to diverse communities across Victoria.

In fact, between 1 March 2021 and 22 March 2022, we’ve support clients with over 150 different ancestries / ethnicities, and who speak an astounding 92 different languages.¹

In some cases, the diversity and multilingualism of our team also allows us to communicate effectively with families and individuals who do not speak English.

Language is a barrier to accessing support for many people across Victoria. And this is no surprise, given that 31% of our Victorian population were born overseas!²

Our support services at CatholicCare Victoria are available to all individuals or groups regardless of race or religious beliefs.

We offer over 60 programs across the state, and many these are either made or tailored for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

During this Cultural Diversity Week from 19-27 March, we would like to say WELCOME to people of all cultures, ethnicities and religions.

We believe that every individual is worthy of respect and has the right to belong. And we celebrate the diversity of everyone we work beside.
