Further affordable housing at Mitchell Park

Originally published in Centacare Ballarat news.

The increase of long-term affordable housing stock in Ballarat is currently underway.

An additional nine apartments are now being built at Mitchell Park that will complement the existing 29 apartments providing affordable housing.

Acknowledging the increasing need for social and affordable housing, Centacare Housing Services (CHS) submitted for the Victorian Government Social Housing Growth Fund, aiming to increase affordable housing availability in the Ballarat region.

CHS were successful in obtaining the Social Housing Growth Fund, which has enabled the establishment of the additional dwellings.

Amongst the nine upcoming apartments, there will be six 1-bedroom and three 2-bedroom apartments available, offering a range to suit families, couples or individuals with a stable and affordable home.

These homes will provide an affordable alternative to public housing and private rental accommodation and are eligible for people on low to moderate income, aged 18 years and over. Applications for the apartments can be made through the Victorian Housing Register.

The apartments are estimated to be completed by the end of 2021.
