CatholicCare Victoria CEO appointed

The Board of CatholicCare Victoria has announced the appointment of Ms Agnes Sheehan as inaugural Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 January 2021.

Agnes has had an executive and non-executive career, spanning more than 20 years as an executive in the information and communications technology industry, and twelve years as non-executive director in the health sector. Recognised as an effective and strategic leader, delivering organisational integration, transformation and growth, primarily within large enterprises. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree Business Studies (Hons) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Agnes has worked with the Archdiocese of Melbourne since May 2019 on a number of strategic transformation projects and most recently, she successfully led the Sharing Mission Project culminating in the historic merger of Centacare Ballarat, CatholicCare Melbourne and Gippsland and CatholicCare Sandhurst to become CatholicCare Victoria Limited.

“It has been a privilege to work with the Bishops of Victoria to bring the Catholic social services organisations together as CatholicCare Victoria,’ said Agnes. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with the Board and staff to grow our capacity and capability to meet the ever-growing need to support the most disadvantaged in our various communities across the state.”

Agnes is highly engaged with the Australian Catholic community and, in November 2018, was appointed a Lieutenant of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

“On behalf of the Board of CatholicCare Victoria, I would like to congratulate Agnes on her appointment,” said John Sheldon, Chair of CatholicCare Victoria. “Throughout the Sharing Mission Project, Agnes has demonstrated outstanding leadership and talent. We are fortunate to continue to draw on her extensive capabilities as CatholicCare Victoria embarks on this new and exciting phase.”
