The search for a special, loving family

Anup is a beautiful one year old boy who is looking for his very own forever family.

Born with a rare genetic condition called Peliase Merchbacher’s Disease (PMD), which limits mobility and development and creates uncertainty in his life expectancy, Anup needs all the care and cuddles in the world from a very special, loving family.

“The perfect forever family for Anup will be able to keep up with regular specialist appointments and ongoing medical care, and they’ll receive all the support and training they need regarding Anup’s care needs,” says Renu, CatholicCare Manager of Community Programs.

“Anup’s foster carer and team of health professionals provide him with a strong network of support – and they will extend this support to his new family until Anup is comfortable in their care.”

CatholicCare’s state-wide adoption program provides counselling and support to both birth parents and adoptive parents, as well as providing adoption accreditation, legal support and training for prospective families.

In FY20, CatholicCare found forever homes for six children and held 65 relinquishment sessions with birth parents.

“We work with parents and families to explore all avenues before they make the final decision to relinquish their child,” says Renu. “For some families, we are able to provide them with the support they need to keep their children. But it’s our priority to ensure decisions made are always in the best interests of the children.”

If you think you can provide a loving, caring home for Anup, please contact CatholicCare on 9689 3888. All enquiries are treated confidentially.
