CatholicCare's Annual Church Appeal is to be held in parishes within the Archdiocese of Melbourne on September 15 & 16, 2012. This appeal is a vital fundraising event for CatholicCare as it provides a significant part of the financial support required to conduct our programs and services. The appeal also provides an opportunity to communicate with parishioners about our programs and support to families and individuals. CatholicCare undertakes this work on behalf of the people and parishes of the Archdiocese.
This year the focus for our Appeal is the needs of families in the rapidly growing suburbs and communities around the edges of Melbourne and Geelong. These areas typically lack social services and social infrastructure and yet have families with high levels of need. CatholicCare is seeking to provide a greater presence in these communities.
In conducting the Appeal in your parish, we would recommend the use of a speaker to represent CatholicCare. We can provide a speaker or you might like to nominate a person from your own parish to speak on behalf of CatholicCare. We will provide a Speaker Information Kit to assist the nominated person. We can also provide a five minute DVD to conduct the Appeal if you prefer this mode of presentation.
If the appeal date conflicts with another parish event, please nominate a more suitable weekend.
